Ibride is a French design house which was established in 1996 by designers Rachel and Benoit Convers. Under the Ibride brand name, various original home accessories collections have been created which are inspired by nature, Gothic design, Surrealism and Victorian portraiture. The local French environment and travels around the world have both served as inspiration for Ibride designs.
Ibride, meaning 'hybrid', is an apt name for the brand as many of their pieces combine different forms and have more than one function. Ibride designs display the brand's own distinct mythology, where objects are infused with life and there is more to each object than what is apparent at first glance.
Ibride are best known for their quirky, charming and unusual animal trays which have attracted a cult following of collectors. Galerie De Portraits Ibride trays are made from high pressure laminate, often with ornate laser-cut detailing and the tray designs put a unique and fun twist on the traditional portrait, with animal and human forms being combined. Of course there is more than one function to an Ibride tray; it can also be used as a bold and imposing decorative piece of wall art. The most sought-after of these tray designs are The Lovebirds, Honore, Bernardo and Rosita.
